Math is based on an ACT Mathematics score of 27 or higher.Please consult each semesters schedule of courses for availability and attributes. Students are strongly encouraged to select courses that meet two or more Core or College requirements.Students are encouraged to use elective hours toward a minor or toward prerequisites. Coursework listed as “elective” may vary for each student.In addition to the Core General Education requirements, the College of Science requires 3 hours of Calculus, and 40 hours of upper level credit.Students are required to know and track their degree requirements for graduation or for entrance to a professional school.Restricted Elective: Selection of one of the BSC courses provides a Biological Sciences minor. Intro to Criminal Justice (Core II Social Science) Information on specific classes in the Core can be found at. The Core Curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking skills and introduce students to basic domains of thinking that transcend disciplines. See your advisor to discuss the importance of this course in your plan of study. Students apply to graduate in the minor through MyPack at the same time that they apply to graduate in their major program.- Milestone course: a key success marker for your major. Students who plan to minor in Forensic Science can do so online through CODA (in MyPack). All requirements for the minor must be completed no later than the semester in which the student expects to graduate from his or her major degree program. The minor in Forensic Science is administered within the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Sciences. At least 9 credit hours of the minor must be completed at NC State. Students in the minor in Forensic Science take one required introduction to forensic science (3 credit hours), three required foundational courses (9 credit hours), and then they have the opportunity to further explore a variety of scientific disciplines as they relate to the legal system (minimum 6 credit hours). The Forensic Science minor is available to undergraduates majoring in any field, but might be most appropriate for students majoring or planning to pursue advanced studies in the sciences or in science education. The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Sciences offers an undergraduate minor in Forensic Science, an interdisciplinary field of study that involves the application of scientific principles and methodology from numerous scientific disciplines to criminal investigations.
